Fiume 1.5 a short venture into Yoga

“Guido Keller told me that he had just formed a company to guard the Commander, a company that he called La Disperata (The Desperate). Many soldiers who had come from Italy to volunteer were without papers and had not been accepted by the Command. Instead of leaving they were camped out in the town’s big shipyards. When he went to see what they were doing there, Keller found some of them naked diving from the prows of the moored ships, others attempting to manoeuvre the old locomotives that used to run between Fiume and Budapest, and others perched up on cranes, singing. He found them to be high-spirited and jolly, and he gathered them for inspection: they were all proud, handsome men, and he declared that they were the finest soldiers in Fiume. He mustered these soldiers, known to all as the ‘desperados’ in view of their situation, and offered them to the Commander as personal guards. This move scandalized superior officials, but the Commander accepted the offer. With the creation of this company, Keller began to put his ideas for a new military order into practice. These new soldiers spent most of the day swimming or rowing, or singing and marching through the city, bare-chested and dressed in shorts. They were not obliged to stay in the barracks… and in the evening they frequented a deserted area called La torretta, where they split into two groups and did battle with real hand grenades, often leading to injury… The presence of a number of morally dubious elements did not sully the company’s reputation, but rather gave it the crepuscular flavor of a group despised by the wise and the mediocre, and this was its greatest source of pride.””

““…oddities like the curious war hero Guido Keller, whose mascot was an eagle, who slept naked in the tops of trees, and who was one of the new commander’s main lieutenants”

Let us speak of Giudo Keller(1892-1929), last of the Hellenics, nationalist-nudist and tantric master, Keller the air pilot who raided Zeppelins and Airplanes and dropped roses in the vatican. In 1919 the Union of Yoga was founded by Giudo Keller alongside Giovanni Comisso and Mino Somenzi they launched the “Yoga” magazine which was self published in Fiume by Keller. While the magazine’s circulation and most of its members were concentrated in Fiume it had a global outreach intellectually and through correspondences to the Berlin Dada groups, and Leninist-Bolsheviks in Russia alongside some Hungarian communists. The Union of Yoga itself was made up of many artists and poets within the city itself alongside Japanese Buddhist-Influence from Harukichi Shimoi. They also organized a “peoples academy” which hosted debates in public on free love, monetary abolition, destruction of prisons, improving the city through art etc.

The Union of Yoga was primarily based upon the philosophy of the Männerbund taken from the German Wanderwogel movement with its anti establishment youth culture and anti urban nature culture.

Though Giudo Keller had a passing ideological and comradely fascination with Marinetti he critiqued futurism for what he perceived as its anti human pro machine qualities. Guido Keller posited what he called a “Dionysian humanism”in contrast to Marinettis more anti human ideology. The 4th issue of the Yoga magazine contained a long critique by Keller of Marinetti’s futurism claiming that it took out the most precious part of art. That being the  human aspect of the artist.

Though Keller disliked Futurism the Yoga circle included Futurists alongside extreme nationalists,“communists and anarchists, Bolsheviks and William Morris-like socialists, bohemians and nihilists, Nietzscheans and Rosenkreutzers, Rousseauist dreamers and Utopian Proudhonists”. These various ideologies were brought together by a shared hatred of the current system and love for diversity of thought and spontaneity.

The Union of Yoga also delved into religious topics with interest in theosophy, Freemasonry, Esoteric Forms of Yoga, Zen Buddhism and Hinduism, and Hellenism. It drew many of these types from all around Europe and helped gather funding and support for Fiume from around the world.

Two main groups formed within the Union of Yoga the first being called the “brown lotus” promoting  an agrarian race-based earth society which was strongly anti capitalist anti city and anti technology. They were obsessed with mysticism and forms of esoteric eastern philosophy. Another group formed to rival them called the “red lotus” whose motto was “Moving. Living. Destroying. They were also Italian patriots but opposed crude racism and national chauvinism. Yoga saw the various human races uniting into a single “dionysus race” that would overcome ideology and politics and create a hedonistic ubermensch.

Yoga also believed that the “negative” races like French and British had shackled the Italians with international treaties and democratic institutions and that in order to renew the Italian race they needed to embrace hedonistic aristocracy and forge a new spiritual order. From this they formulated a kind of “eugenics of karma” where your spiritual race would determine your standing in life and that through the state the spirit could be improved. This shows that Keller was at least mildly influenced by the traditionalist school. A byproduct of this was the organization of peoples into corporations mirroring the later “charter of Fiume” and also the manifesto of “Sansepolcrismo”.
During the last days of Fiume Giudo Keller and his Yoga group were some of the last members to give up and leave the city, many of them became apolitical, some became Fascists, others joined anti fascist groups. Keller’s story does not end here but a full tale of his exploits will be told of in the next article

A penetration into Fiume Part 1 “Fiume and its Paralaxx” (By Alcaz)

“«Fiumanism = the Italian city of Fiume – city of new life – liberation of all the oppressed (peoples, classes, individuals) – discipline of the spirit against formal discipline – destruction of all hegemonies, dogmas, conservatisms and parasitisms – crucible for new energies – few words, much substance».

“ The motto of Fiume from La testa di ferro a self published newspaper in Fiume by Mario Carli,

Gabrielle D’annunzio is seen as a proto fascist and a figure of the “far right” in liberal and leftist circles. However the true soul of Gabrielle D’annunzio is that of a superman above all the tiny intellectual boxes others attempt to put him in. In this essay I will attempt to use Fiume as an example of D’annunzio’s genius and how he defied the whole world, past and present.

Fiume started out as a right wing-attempt of Irrendentia, but after the coward’s in Rome had submitted themselves to the allies the possibility of annexation was gone. Therefore D’annunzio declared Fiume a “regency” to await a true leader for the Italian people. Though Fiume only lasted for sixteen months its impact on culture and art was greater than some civilizations that lasted a thousand years. Art was no longer something for the bourgaise to enjoy in glass cases inside suffocating museums but instead something in the streets to actively participate in. Fiume had become the first state to turn aesthetics into ideology.

The charter/constitution of Fiume is something FF has gone into already

But some points to state here is that it was co-written by Alceste De Ambris a syndicalist writer and gave the greatest rights to women yet seen on earth at that point, they were even allowed to join the legionnaires, divorce and abortion were also openly permitted. Homosexuality was also legalized and Fiume became the first state to openly endorse its practice. As D’annunzio attempted to capture the vitalistic spirit that only the poets knew of he would endorse state sponsored dueling and boxing alongside poetry and art competitions. It was truly a utopia for the cultured thugs of his time.

While Fiume may have been a hedonists wet dream it had other facets too. Eastern practices like Zen-Buddhism, Karate and Yoga are helped by people like Harukichi Shimoi with his Arditi Karate Dojos and Giudo Keller’s Yoga magazine. Ironically in the eye of the storm of the “madness of Fiume” as European newspapers liked to call it, the citizens of Fiume were exposed to zen knowledge that the rest of Europe wouldn’t have until well after ww2. This is the inherent contradiction all great men (and cities) have, Fiume was authoritarian yet anarchistic, A place where De’Sade could have lived out his wildest dreams yet also the only city in Europe where the Buddha could have walked and felt at home. This was the beauty of Fiume, nothing that is beautiful exists without ugliness or change.

Fiume was seen by many as a cancerous blot in the heart of Europe, but those who could look to the future and had hearts of poets saw differently, Lenin called fiume the only true European revolution and D’annunzio as the only real revolutionary Europe had to offer. The Soviet Union under Lenin was the only country to recognize Fiume’s legitimacy on the world stage and vice versa. For D’annunzio’s part he organized the League of Fiume getting representatives from the fledgling Irish free state alongside a menagerie of various nationalists across the world, including nationalists fro: Dalmatia, Albania, German Austria, Montenegro, Croatia, German Irredentists now under Poland, Czecho-Slovakia, France and Italy, Catalonia, Malta, Gibraltar, Ireland, the Flemish. Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Palestine, Mesopotamia, India, Persia, Afghanistan. India, Burma, China, Korea, the Philippines, Hawaii, Panama, Cuba, Puerto Rico. The Chinese in California, the Blacks of America.

Such a gathering of international nationalism had never been seen before and would never be seen again. The League of Fiume then gave weapons and technical support to these oppressed nations with only the Irish Free State refusing for fear of American reprisal. D’annunzio hoped to inspire a global revolution against the decayed globalist bourgeois powers that be in order to ferment a international “holocaust” against them. Because of this Fiume was nicknamed the “city of the holocaust” as he wanted Fiume to be its center.

At the end of this I would like to state that as Futurists we are not looking back at Fiume love or trying to “recapture its spirit”. No! We already have captured it because we are it! Every futurist or dissident nationalist alive today is already a citizen of Fiume and has been one since D’annunzio declared the city reborn! Eja Eja Alalà and Me Ne Frego!

Futurism as a Life Affirming Worldview

(Marrineti and Benedetta Cappa)
Petty attacks have and will be leveled against futurism, that it is a “death cult” and that it promotes forms of Satanism/immorality or that it somehow is tied into forms of cult-degeneration like O9A and brain rot tier national socialism. They claim that Futurism is all about death and fatalism and killing and war and nothing else.

In truth these things are either aspects of a greater whole or misrepresentations. Futurism is the head end of the Ouroboros that endlessly renews itself on death and birth, it is the omega in the life equation. The death and war that Futurism seeks can be compared as Marrinetti does to the hygiene that you practice everyday, ancient and modern warfare is the soaping and scrubbing of decay off the Earth/Human body. Futurism therefore praises war because of how it pushes humanity forward and is a brick in the glass window of the systems of old. For example the European Monarchies that were swept away by WW1.

The fatalism of Futurism is also something to touch on, “fatalism” is a used and abused term like no other, it can mean anything from the depression/drug induced fatalism of Osamu Dazai to the fatalistic but in the end life affirming fatalistic careers of Ernst Junger/Miyamoto Musashi. I would say that futurism is the later form of fatalism, it is the fatalism of living dangerously and mocking death just like the Arditi did, the fatalism of adventure and progress, of the baby bird leaving his mothers nest not knowing if he would perish or survive. It is testing your will against the greater world, and conceding that you might die in your endeavors, but it is also the only way to truly live.

When Futurism speaks on “fighting morality” it does not mean to act immorally like the O9A promotes but instead to fight against the current regime’s self imposed moral system. The morality of the church and state, it is anarchist and Nietzschean in this sense.

Futurism is a life affirming ideology because it wants to push humanity to be the greatest it can possibly be, it wants to attain the best version of the future and not just keep tilting back towards a 1950s era past like the conservatives of America want, or in Marinetti’s time the Imperial Period of the Roman Empire that many Italian romanticists yearned for.

Neo Futurist Manifesto

In movement circles there is much talk of returning to tradition. Of melancholic nostalgia for an imagined time before this or that influence corrupted the garden of Eden that once was.
Julius Evola once said that Traditionalism was the most revolutionary idea of our time. We at Futurism Forever reject this notion. Futurism is the most revolutionary idea of our time. We reject the past, and
sentimental feelings of nostalgia for what once was. We look only forward and upward for what lays ahead of us. We are the masters of our own destiny and we decide what the future of our nations will be like. Through our own will to power we can mold a future worth looking forward to, and we can destroy all that stands in the way of it’s realization. We have no use for the necrophiliac embrace of past times, that can not be recreated or revived. Nostalgia for the past is counter productive and counterrevolutionary and we regard all who engage in this pathetic behavior to be our enemies.
The promise of the American Dream has stagnated and in it’s place we have been broken down into a death machine defined by utilitarian cowardice, empty humanitarian gestures and debt slavery. There is nothing in our current environment that inspires greatness or deserves reverence as we are thrust into a nihilistic cycle of production and consumption. The complete and total destruction of the American shopping mall, will give way to a new era worth fighting and dying for. We wish to reignite the spirit of Fiume and boldly enter a new era defined by aggressiveness, fearlessness and revolt.
The 11 points of Neo-Futurism:

  1. A complete and utter annihilation of the past, all history political or material is to be thrown out
to make way for a new worldview, one that does not need the university knowledge of long
dead men to make it great!
  2. A worship of the youth, a complete and genuine hatred and wish to cast out the old things that
no longer please us, old words that we have no use for and old traditions that have long lost
    their real meaning
  3. A distaste for the cries of the weak about “morality” of any kind and its twin brother of god
given rights and peace between men! We shall only worship the strong and not give quarter to
those who cannot bring themselves up through will to power
  4. A hatred for mental prisons like schools and “intellectuals” that deem to teach us what to think,
No! We realize that a school matter’s just as much as the torch that could easily set it alight, and
an intellectual, no matter how smart or well studied would be torn in half by the most mentally
    feeble caveman of old.
  5. A true realization of the original purpose of paper and books, for war, sex and violence!
Knowledge exists only to strengthen the ur-man and bring forth the new-man and to allow us to
wage war at an unprecedented level! We understand that the modern concept of one who reads
or consumes knowledge is a weak mewling intellectual, and we wholly reject this! Instead
Futurist “intellectual’s” shall have nothing but distaste for the mummification of creativity that
books provide and instead only use them to further project him to greater heights.
  6. A rejection of stasis and an embrace of speed in all its forms, we futurists worship speed and
reject the chains of morality! The blandness of songs, music, film, what we want is a dangerous
speed, a speed that destroys us! Not to wither away in front of an electric box or a computer
screen, but to live and die at a terminal velocity through life.
  7. A rejection of material class and in its stead a reign of violence and organized cultural
vandalism instead of the current rule of inked paper and democratic vote.
  8. An embrace of violence, war and sex not just as a means to an end but as a vital propagation of
life to counter-stagnation, we shall embrace the simple fact of history that all peoples are made
great through their blood and seed.
  9. A embrace of both the mob and the sole orator that entices them to righteous violence!
  10. A rejection of skin color for an embrace of the sinew and bone that hold up muscle and flesh
    made into a fist.
    1. A final true understanding that modernity only exists because the modern men will it so!
And that we “futurists” can make whatever future we believe in or whatever “modern world”
we want, no founding father or past “intellectual” can decide otherwise. This manifesto should
in a few years time be completely thrown out into the “dust bin” of history and burned
alongside the rest of the outdated cultural trash to make way for a new doctrine
